ON-LINE WORKSHOP: JUNE 2020

JOIN AWARD-WINNING DIRECTOR AND SCREEN DANCE ARTIST KATRINA MCPHERSON FOR A THREE-WEEK ONLINE CREATIVE WORKSHOP EXPLORING THE ART OF SCREENDANCE AND DEVELOP THE SKILLS TO CREATE / ADAPT YOUR LIVE PERFORMANCE FOR THE SCREEN.

NEXT ON-LINE WORKSHOP TAKES PLACE WEEKS COMMENCING 8th, 15th AND 22nd JUNE 2020

Through this online workshop programme, led by artist and educator Katrina McPherson, you will be introduced to the foundations, techniques and approaches of screendance, and learn to employ these to accurately and creatively bring your live dance work to the screen.

Learning from one of the world’s leaders in the field, across three weeks you will join Katrina and a small group of fellow participants for a weekly 1.5 hour on-line class, designed to develop your understanding of making dance for the screen, both practically and theoretically. This learning will be backed up and extended by practical exercises, viewing and reading material, which Katrina will set for working on between classes.

Katrina will also provide up to 2 hours of one-to-one mentoring and guidance to support you to work independently and develop your own practice,. This could be adapting a current work, reimagining a work-in-progress, or something entirely new.

At the end of the three-week programme, and depending on your starting skill-base you will have:

  • Developed a strong understanding of the fundamentals of creating work for the screen

  • Deepened your understanding of the creative potential of creating and editing dance performance for the screen.

  • Explored the history of screen dance and engaged with a variety of styles and approaches

  • Created / adapted / planned your own screen dance film

According to demand and levels of experience, there may be a number of different groups running simultaneously.

Cost: £150 (3 x 1.5 hour on-line group classes, materials for individual practice and learning, plus 1.5 hours individual mentoring)

The next on-line workshops will run during weeks commencing 8, 15 and 22 June 2020 with dates and times to be arranged once participants are confirmed.
