About the Event
Paysages Elargis/Widening Landscapes is the latest collaboration between Scottish director Katrina McPherson and Quebec choreographer Harold Rheaume, whose creative partnership began in the 1990s with
Mur Mur (1993) and Pictureshow (1997), and was re-ignited after an 18 year separation, with Paysages Mixtes/Mixed Landscapes (2019). Their new project engages with ideas of individuality and community, isolation and belonging, weaving together material filmed on location in Quebec and Scotland during 2019, working with dance artists from both countries, and images from McPherson & Rheaume’s shared archive of films.
At DanceLive, Katrina and Harold will talk about their work, their navigation of long-distance collaboration, and their shared vision for the future of the project. Paysages Mixtes/Mixed Landscapes (2019) and Paysages Elargis/ Widening Landscapes (2020) have been developed with the support of Dance North, Dance Base and The Work Room in Scotland, Le Fils d’Adrien danse in Quebec, Creative Scotland and the British Council and Quebec Government’s QC-UK Connections Fund.
